BARBARA THOMPSON
Barb Thompson has a clear childhood memory of wanting to be an artist. Her crayon drawings were what received the most of her mother’s attention. Early on, there were building sketches with floor plans and landscaped exteriors. Really, it didn’t seem to matter the medium, as long as the finished piece was well-engineered. That was the challenge. That was what was intriguing.

After art school, Barb had the opportunity to remodel her family’s 200 year-old farmhouse in Bastian, Virginia. It has been 35 years now and the farmhouse renovation is still as interesting as ever.

Today, whether renovating a room at home, digging her pottery clay in the back field, or photographing a long shadow moving across the front porch, there is more at home than she can ever fully capture.
