PETE HELMANDOLLAR
Pete Helmandollar has been riding horses all his life. He grew up in the Paint Lick area of Tazewell County, so named because it rests at the base of Paint Lick Mountain where Native American paintings dot the edge of one its steep cliff faces, as well as being the site of a large natural salt lick.

Pete learned to weld in high school, but it was not until he became ferrier to his own horses that the idea to recycle all those used shoes came about. He began to make candle stick holders and howdy signs from the old horseshoes as well as larger signs fashioned from antique wagon wheels with various country motifs hand torched into a sheet metal center. These pieces have been developed into what he now calls” Cowboy Creations.”
