WILLIAM KYLE WIMMER
William Kyle Wimmer grew up on a dairy farm in Tazewell County, Virginia, and has always been around wood. His family logged the property to make split fence posts and sometimes sold some of the wood for mining timbers. In winter, wood was chopped for heating and wood was also used to fashion implement handles needing replacement.

Kyle has always enjoyed the smell and the texture of wood and the process of turning a tree into a useful, functional object.

Kyle favors rough sawn wood pieces, where the weathered aspect of the wood can be seen and appreciated and he often uses recycled wood taken from old barns. The story of the wood can be read through its “imperfections” such as knots and saw marks, lending character to each unique piece.

Kyle is available to make commissioned pieces.
